Witches, ghosts, and bunting! Oh my? Oh, yes, oh my! Holidays are made for making crafts; Halloween especially. During Halloween, it’s not just people who get dressed up. Houses, both inside and out, also get to wear costumes. As a creative person, I feel more in my element dressing up my house with homemade crafts rather than dressing up myself. With that in mind, I decided to introduce the art of holiday decorating, Crafty Sharron style (a working title, obviously), by starting with a Halloween bunting (also known as a banner).

Instructions on making a Halloween bunting:

Materials:

Black pre-cut banner cut outs (Purchased from Michaels or JoAnn Fabrics)

Print alphabet stencil letters from Google images to make the word Spooky. (Lettering can be from font of choice and may need to enlarge letters on a copier)

Cut letters out using both green fabric and stitch witchery (also found at Joann Fabrics)

Iron letters on the black banner cutouts

Search Pinterest for ghost appliqué pattern to print a ghost for the end pieces of the bunting.

Cut ghost out using both white fabric and stitch witchery.

Iron the ghosts on the black banner cutouts.

When the banner pieces are complete, sew or hot glue the banner pieces to the string (1” apart) that comes included in the banner package.

Once the banner pieces are attached it’s time to make the finishing touch.

Tear ¾” wide and 12” long pieces of fabric (orange and purple) to tie in between the banner pieces.

You have now completed your easy holiday banner to decorate for Halloween.

Happy Crafting!
