I first met Melody at a wedding several years ago. I was the photographer and she was the DJ. I loved working with her because everything went so smoothly and the guests had a blast-which makes my job so much easier.

We kept in touch after that wedding and worked together again a few more times. Her personality is one that I admire. She is adventurous and brave, confident and humble. I recommend her anytime I get a chance to!

One of my goals of starting this blog, was to encourage and empower fellow women. Part of that is doing these spotlights on females that I see killing it in their field, and in life. So my next spotlight is-Ms Melody! When I asked her to share a little bit about herself... here is what she had to say.
" I grew up in Chesapeake Virginia with the dream of singing and dancing on Broadway. I went away to New York City to study musical theater at Marymount Manhattan College where I received a BA in musical theater performance. I started touring with a children’s theater company called Missoula Children’s Theatre out of Montana and then I booked my dream job!
I started touring with Sesame Street Live as a singer and dancer in one of their shows! I was Rosita and the Narrator of the Show 123 Imagine with Elmo and Friends. It was super fun and I had the opportunity to perform at incredible venues like Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Blue Jays stadium in Toronto. It was then that I realized that I want to do something that reaches masses of people and helps others!
After my contract at a kid park in PA, I moved back home to figure out a new career path to help me achieve this. My close friend and mentor and fellow DJ Richard Davis convinced me that I should be a DJ. I was a little skeptical at first. It was something that I never imagined doing. I had no idea what bpm was or how to play two songs at the same time... so I studied with him and learned so much.
Music has always been my passion so naturally I loved every minute of it. What I loved more was dancing and interacting with guests at parties, brightening their day with their favorite songs, showing them how to dance, bringing people together. I realized quickly that this is something that I’m meant to do.
Being the person that I am... I pushed to the top of my industry. I moved to Florida where I could potential he work at the biggest and best theme parks in the world and with in the same year of moving to Florida, it all became a reality! I became a DJ, MC and Video DJ at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios Resort, Sea World, Hard Rock Hotel and many resorts in the Central Florida area. I loved it! I even worked my way up to do weddings at Walt Disney World... one of the most incredible opportunities I’ve ever achieved! I really liked it but I wanted to see the world so I started working for Carnival Cruise Line as a Host DJ.
I joined the Carnival breeze first and then they sent me to the carnival vista, the newest ship in carnival fleet at the time, in the Mediterranean! It was an incredible experience. I made so many close friends and saw so much of this beautiful world. Instead of going back to ships at the end of my contract, I decided to create my own company, my own mission.
I moved home to Virginia to be close to family and grow my company. I love it! It feels like I’m starting back at the bottom but I’m in complete control of my success and I have the most incredible support system. I feel incredibly blessed. I’m diving into the wedding industry and growing my corporate client lists! It’s great. I look forward to the future. I hope to continue to bring others together by using all the skills I’ve been working on my whole life. This is my world and this is me."

So there she is. Melody of Melody & Company Entertainment. I am so proud to know this woman and I cannot wait to see what her future holds for her!
